Separate conversion from merchant acceptance

An on-ramp converts fiat into digital assets; an off-ramp converts digital assets into fiat. A merchant accepting a payment is not necessarily the party providing that conversion. Define whether the service serves the merchant itself or its end customers.

Identify every regulated role

Document the parties handling funds, executing conversion and providing custody where relevant. Assess permissions, identity checks and geographic scope for the proposed model. A technology connection does not itself establish authority to provide a financial service.

Plan the return journey

Explain how an incomplete conversion, incorrect wallet instruction, bank rejection or refund would be handled. Confirm supported assets, currencies, beneficiary types and settlement conditions in writing for the actual arrangement.

What to prepare

  • Merchant or end-customer conversion use case
  • Legal entities and intended customer locations
  • Fiat currencies, assets and networks requested
  • Wallet custody and beneficiary details
  • Permissions and compliance responsibilities

Questions to resolve early

Are on-ramp and off-ramp services available to every merchant?

No. Access is assessed by use case, entity, geography, asset and provider requirements.

Does this replace a merchant processing agreement?

Not necessarily. Collection, conversion and settlement can involve separate relationships. Review the full contractual and operational chain.

Availability is subject to business assessment, lawful activity, destination-market requirements and provider approval. No industry or payment method is approved automatically.
